Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the world of work and higher education.
Since the company OpenAI made ChatGPT freely available in November 2022,
AI, its potentials, and impacts have been omnipresent. Until today, numerous AI
tools and applications have been added, transforming activities and processes in
all areas of life today.

The job application process is also changing due to artificial intelligence. But how
can I use this to my advantage during the application phase? How can AI help
me with applications for internships, theses, or my first job, and increase the
likelihood of getting an interview invitation? More and more companies are using
AI and algorithms in the application process. However, this doesn't have to be a
disadvantage for applicants if considered carefully. In this interactive lecture, we
will focus on the potentials of AI for the application process.

You will:

  • learn to create their applications faster, more personally, and more clearly with
the help of artificial intelligence.

  • discover the current role of AI in the various phases of the application process
and understand where its use is beneficial.

  • be able to use the advantages of artificial intelligence for the long-term creation
and optimization of their applications, thereby making their application process
easier.

  • understand how and why HR departments use AI and other algorithms in the
application process and what impact this has on the application process.

Clear, effective communication is one of the most important skills you can develop for success in a global work environment. Whether you are studying, interning, or working in Germany, the ability to navigate intercultural communication with confidence and empathy is crucial. In this workshop, you’ll focus on developing key communication strategies that will help you engage effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds, ensuring you can build strong relationships and thrive in international professional settings.

Topics that will be covered are…

  • Understand the Layers of Communication: You’ll explore the different levels of communication, from content to emotion, and learn how these layers can affect understanding. This will help you become more aware of your own communication style and improve how you interpret messages from others, especially in intercultural contexts.
  • Enhance Empathy and Self-Reflection: You will gain the ability to question your own frames of reference and biases, learning how to listen and engage in a more empathetic, open-minded way. This self-awareness is key to understanding how misunderstandings can arise and how to navigate them effectively, both in everyday conversations and professional interactions.
  • Navigate Intercultural Misunderstandings: You’ll gain insights into why intercultural misunderstandings occur and how to resolve them constructively. By deepening your understanding of cultural differences, you’ll be better equipped to respond thoughtfully, avoiding conflict and fostering positive relationships.
  • Strengthen Personal Relationships through Communication: Effective communication is not just about conveying information—it’s also about building trust and understanding. You’ll learn how to enhance personal and professional relationships through clear, respectful, and empathetic communication, helping you build stronger networks and foster collaboration.
  • Give and Receive Constructive Feedback: You’ll gain tools for offering feedback in a way that is both constructive and empathetic. This is essential for creating a positive and supportive working environment, especially in intercultural teams, where misunderstandings can easily occur.
  • Identify Your Own Communication Patterns: By reflecting on your communication habits and potential triggers, you’ll become more aware of how your personal style might affect interactions in multicultural environments. This awareness will help you reduce friction and improve communication when working with people from diverse backgrounds.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll not only have a deeper understanding of how intercultural communication works, but you’ll also feel more confident in your ability to engage empathetically, resolve misunderstandings, and build strong, lasting relationships in any international setting. You'll leave with practical tools to improve your communication skills, helping you succeed in both professional and personal interactions within Germany’s diverse work environment.

“Future of Work - How the topic of (generative) AI will challenge us now and in the future and how we can learn to deal with it in order to make use of it”

Everyone is talking about AI, generative AI (GenAI). Companies want to use it in a targeted manner and some of us are asking ourselves “what do I need to know, what else should I learn”. As an active member of our society, as future employees and teachers, we can prepare ourselves for these complex questions and the unknown.

  • What should we already know and what can we still learn?
  • Which gadgets can be used how and where and are they being used by companies?
  • What unknowns are we likely to have to deal with?
  • And what contribution can each of us make to society?
